encourage your body to reset imbalances, recover energy and repair injuries throughout the entire system
A detailed consultation is followed by the treatment, lasting up to 60 minutes. The Bowen Technique works on the principle that less is more and your treatment will include only as many moves as your body needs to begin the process of repair.
Following your treatment you will be given aftercare advice. Bowen encourages the body to remember how to restore and heal itself. This process will continue over the next 5 -10 days and in order for your body to fully gain the benefits, you will be asked not to have any other treatments, such as massage, reflexology or acupuncture, during the course of your treatments.
After your treatment you may temporarily experience some symptoms such as tiredness, stiffness, headaches or an increase in the original symptoms. This is usually an indication that your body wants you to slow down and rest while it works out what needs to be done. The majority of this restoration process naturally occurs whilst you are asleep, so by listening to what your body is telling you, you are aiding the healing process. It is vital that you do not cancel future treatments in response to a strong reaction - Bowen is subtle and works as a catalyst to encourage healing to take place. Strong reactions, whilst temporarily unpleasant, are an indication that the body needs to make more changes in order to bring about balance. More treatments are essential to allow the body to make optimal restoration.
The experience is gentle, subtle and relaxing. The moves are usually performed on a treatment couch, through light clothing or directly onto the skin. During the treatment the therapist will leave the room giving the body time to make the subtle and fine adjustments which help to relieve tension, reduce pain and initiate the healing process
